I had to double back on Atlantis Extrait by French Avenue.
When I first smelled it, I wasn’t completely sure about it. The opening is sweet, fruity and definitely capable of leaning feminine at first.
But after wearing it for more than a week, I keep coming back to the bottle.
That tells me more than a first impression ever could.
What Does Atlantis Extrait Smell Like?
The main thing I get from Atlantis Extrait is juicy watermelon. The watermelon shows up immediately.
Then you start getting this creamy coconut underneath it, followed by a warmer vanilla sweetness as the fragrance settles down.
French Avenue lists orange and watermelon in the opening, coconut and white flowers in the heart, and vanilla and cocoa in the base.
For me, though, the scent is much easier to explain like this:
Watermelon → creamy coconut → warm vanilla sweetness.
That’s the part you actually notice while wearing it.
And surprisingly, it works.
Is Atlantis Extrait Masculine or Feminine?
This is probably the biggest question some men are going to have about Atlantis Extrait.
So I’ll keep it simple.
The opening leans feminine to my nose.
Atlantis is marketed as a unisex fragrance, and I understand why.
When I first smelled it, I actually thought it might be a little too feminine for me.
Then I sprayed it on my skin and waited.
That changed things.
After about five minutes, the really sweet opening begins calming down. The watermelon is still there, but it doesn’t feel as sharp or candy like.
The coconut gets warmer.
The vanilla gets smoother.
The fragrance starts feeling deeper and more balanced.
On my skin, that’s when Atlantis Extrait starts leaning more masculine.
It just becomes a much easier fragrance for a man to where.
That’s why I wouldn’t judge this one by smelling the cap or spraying a test strip for 30 seconds.
Put it on skin. Give it five minutes. Then decide.
How Long Does Atlantis Extrait Last?
I’m getting around six to seven hours from Atlantis Extrait.
Projection is also pretty good.
The strange thing is that this fragrance can make you think it disappeared.
There have been times when I thought I stopped smelling it completely, and then I’d start moving around, get into the car or just be doing something else and suddenly catch another cloud of it.
That watermelon, coconut and warm sweetness just comes back.
That’s probably one of my favorite things about Atlantis.
The projection pops up, when you’re not thinking about it.
I’ve also gotten compliments while wearing it, which tells me other people are still picking it up even when I’m starting to go nose blind.
When Should You Wear Atlantis Extrait?
To me, Atlantis Extrait makes the most sense in warmer weather. Spring and summer are easy choices. I could also see it working on warmer fall days.
This feels like something you could wear casually, on vacation, during the daytime, around the pool or on a relaxed date.
It’s sweet enough to stand out, but it doesn’t feel heavy.
And if you already own a bunch of citrus heavy fresh fragrances, Atlantis gives you something different.
Instead of another lemon, bergamot and shower gel type of scent, you get watermelon, coconut and creamy sweetness.
Who Is Atlantis Extrait For?
I think Atlantis Extrait makes sense for a guy who wants something a little different.
If you like fruity fragrances, coconut fragrances or sweeter warm weather scents, this is worth looking at.
If you absolutely hate sweet fragrances, I wouldn’t tell you to blind buy it.
The watermelon is there. The coconut is there. You’re going to smell them.
But if your concern is that Atlantis smells too feminine, I’d at least give it a proper skin test before writing it off. That opening almost fooled me too.
My Final Thoughts on Atlantis Extrait
Atlantis Extrait surprised me because I almost dismissed it too quickly.
I keep reaching for it. And honestly, that’s one of the best compliments I can give a fragrance.
The watermelon is juicy.
The coconut gives it this creamy feel.
The vanilla warms everything up.
And after those first few minutes, the fragrance settles into something I find much more masculine and much easier to wear.
Overall, I don’t have many complaints about Atlantis Extrait.
It’s just a fun fragrance.
